What is a career test based on the Holland model?
The Holland model, also called RIASEC, was developed by psychologist John Holland. It says that people and jobs can both be described with six interest types, and that people are usually happiest in work that matches their type. It is one of the most widely used frameworks in career guidance, from school counsellors to job centres.
This career test is a short, free version built on that idea. It measures what you like doing, not what you are already good at, because interest is what keeps you going on a Monday morning.

How does this career quiz work?
Each of the 18 questions has four answers, and every answer belongs to one of the six types. The test counts which type you picked most often and shows it as your career type. Every type appears equally often across the questions, so no type has a head start. Answer with your first instinct; the result is more useful when you are honest than when you pick the answer that sounds impressive.
What are the six career types?
Each type comes with its own kind of work. In short:
- Realistic, the Maker: tools, machines, the outdoors, building things
- Investigative, the Thinker: research, data, science, solving puzzles
- Artistic, the Creator: design, writing, music, anything original
- Social, the Helper: teaching, caring, coaching, listening
- Enterprising and Conventional, the Persuader and the Organizer: leading and selling, or systems, numbers and order
What if I get a career type I did not expect?
That happens a lot, and it is often the most useful outcome. Someone in an office job who scores Realistic may not need a new career, but more hands-on tasks or a hobby that balances the desk. Read the career ideas as a starting point: look up two or three of them, talk to someone who does that job, and check how the daily work really looks before you decide anything.
Who uses a career test like this one?
High school students take it before picking a college major or a vocational path, and college students use it when their major suddenly feels wrong. Career changers in their thirties and forties take it to see whether their frustration is about the job or about the whole field. It is also popular in classrooms and workshops, where everyone shares their type and discovers why the Organizer and the Creator always clash in group projects. Career test FAQ
What is the most accurate career test?
Tests built on a recognised model such as Holland RIASEC are the most useful starting point, because the types are linked to real occupations. No quiz can decide your career for you, though. Use the result together with your skills, your values and conversations with people in the field.
Is this career test free?
Yes. The career test is completely free, there is no paid report afterwards and you do not need to create an account or leave an email address. You see your result immediately on your screen.
Can a career quiz tell me what job I should do?
It can tell you which kind of work fits your interests and give you concrete job ideas to explore. Whether a specific job suits you also depends on salary, location, training and the people you work with, so treat the list as ideas, not instructions.
What if two career types are almost equal for me?
That is common. Most people are a mix of two or three types, and the test shows your strongest one. Read the descriptions of the neighbouring types mentioned on your result page as well; if one of them fits better, look at its careers too.
Is this career test good for students?
Yes. The questions are about everyday interests rather than work experience, so it works for teenagers and students who have never had a job. It is a good way to narrow down which majors or courses are worth a closer look.
How long does the career test take?
About three minutes for 18 questions. There is no time limit, so you can think about the harder ones, but your first instinct usually gives the most honest picture of what you enjoy.
