Some people show love with soup and a clean kitchen, others with a surprise trip booked the night before, and others by teasing you until you laugh. This love type test finds out which kind of lover you are. You answer 16 quick questions about first dates, texting habits, anniversaries, fights and what scares you most in a relationship.

Your answers point to one of eight love types, from the Devoted Partner and the Sweetheart to the Secret Softie, the Free Bird and the Wildfire. Each result comes with a short description of how you act in love and one challenge to keep in mind.

The love style quiz is free, takes about three minutes and works whether you are single, dating or in a long relationship. It is most fun when your partner or crush takes it too.

1 Answer 16 questions about how you love

What is a love type?

Your love type is the way you naturally behave when you fall for someone: how fast you open up, how much closeness you need, how you show affection and how you react when things get difficult. It is not about who you are attracted to, but about how you love.

Knowing your type helps you understand why you feel hurt by a slow reply or why you need a weekend alone, and it helps your partner understand you without guessing.

How does the love style quiz decide your type?

Each of the 16 questions has four answers, and every answer belongs to one of the eight love types. Every type appears equally often across the quiz, so none has an advantage. At the end, the type you picked most often becomes your result. If two types tie, you probably recognise yourself in both of them, which is common for people who love differently in new and long relationships.

What are the 8 love types?

You will get one of these eight:

  • The Devoted Partner and the Sweetheart: care through actions, or lots of affection and attention
  • The Secret Softie and the Free Bird: cool outside and soft inside, or loving with plenty of space
  • The Slow Burner: careful at first, then in it for the long run
  • The Wildfire and the Dreamy Romantic: falling fast, or waiting for a love-story moment
  • The Best-Friend Lover: love that starts as friendship and inside jokes

Is a love type the same as a love language?

No. A love language describes how you prefer to receive love, for example words, time or touch. A love type describes your style in a relationship as a whole: your pace, your need for space, how you flirt and how you handle a fight. They work well together; take the love language test as well and you know both what you need and how you act.

Why do couples compare their love types?

Because many small fights are really a clash of types. A Sweetheart who wants daily calls and a Free Bird who needs a quiet weekend can both be completely loyal, they just show it differently. Couples take the quiz on a date night or before a holiday together, friends compare results in the group chat, and singles use it to understand why their last relationship felt the way it did.

Love type test FAQ

What is my love type?

Your love type is the style that shows up most in how you date, text, fight and make up. Take the 16 questions and the quiz shows which of the eight types fits you best, with a short description and one thing to work on.

Is the love type test accurate?

It is a fun self-reflection quiz, not a psychological assessment. If you answer how you really behave rather than how you would like to behave, most people recognise themselves clearly in the result.

Can my love type change over time?

Yes. Many people are Wildfires at twenty and Slow Burners at thirty, or turn into a Sweetheart with the right person. A new relationship, a breakup or simply getting older can all shift your style, so take the quiz again later and compare.

Which love types are a good match?

Every pair can work when both people understand each other. Similar types connect easily, while opposite types such as the Sweetheart and the Free Bird need to talk about closeness and space early. The best match is someone who respects your style.

Can I take the love type test if I am single?

Yes. Answer the questions based on past relationships, crushes or how you imagine you would act. Singles often find it helpful to see their pattern before they start dating again.

Is the love type test free?

Yes. It is completely free, needs no account and stores nothing about you. Only your final love type travels in the share link if you decide to send it to someone.
