What is the coworker quiz and which teams use it?
It is a how-well-do-you-know-me game with questions written for the workplace instead of for childhood friends. Think desk habits, meeting behaviour, email sign-offs and snack choices. The people who play land in one of three tiers, and the top three on the scoreboard get titles like work bestie, desk neighbour and coffee buddy.
Teams use it on a new hire's first week, on the last day before a holiday, in a remote stand-up that needs something human, or when a manager wants an icebreaker that does not feel forced. It fits a team of four just as well as a department of forty.

How do you run the coworker quiz with your team?
Enter your name, answer the 10 questions about your own work style and copy the link. Post it in the channel where your team actually talks. Each colleague who opens it types their name, guesses your 10 answers and immediately sees how they did.
Check the scoreboard during the afternoon to follow the race. If several people on the team make their own quiz, you end up with a whole round of results and usually a surprise: the quiet person two desks away often scores higher than the loud one.
What questions do colleagues get asked in the coworker quiz?
The 20-question bank sticks to things anyone who sits near you could know. Nothing about salary, performance or anything a manager could hold against you.
- What is your coffee order: black, latte, iced, or are you a tea person?
- Describe your desk: spotless, organised chaos, or a laptop and vibes?
- In meetings, are you the talker, the note taker, or camera off and muted?
- How do you sign off an email: best regards, cheers, or just your name?
- What happens near a deadline: done days early or last-minute panic?
Is the coworker quiz safe to share in a work chat?
Yes. Every question has only light answers, the quiz never asks for your email or company name, and nobody is ranked on anything related to their actual job. The result labels are jokes about coffee and desks, not assessments. If your workplace is strict about links, share it in a private group chat instead of the official team channel.
Why has the coworker quiz become a team building favourite?
Because it takes two minutes, costs nothing and gives everyone something to talk about that is not the project. Hybrid teams in particular use it to bridge the gap between people who share an office and people who only meet on video calls. It is common on Friday afternoons, in onboarding weeks and around year-end when the mood is light. A few teams run it monthly with a different creator each time, so over a year everyone has been the subject once. Managers like it because it shows who is actually connecting across departments, without turning that into a formal survey.
How do I see my friends' answers?
- After you make your quiz, tap “Check Scores 🏆” on your share page. You see every friend's score, and 👁️ shows what they answered.
- On that page, copy “Your private scores link” and keep it, for example in your notes. It opens your scores in any app or browser.
- Don't open your own friend link and fill it in yourself: that link is for your friends. The site recognises you only in the app where you made the quiz, or through your private link.
Coworker quiz FAQ
How long does the coworker quiz take during a break?
Creating it takes about a minute and playing it takes about the same. You answer 10 questions, your colleague guesses 10 answers, and the result shows instantly. It fits in a coffee break or the dead five minutes before a meeting starts.
Can remote colleagues play the coworker quiz too?
Absolutely. The quiz lives at a link, so it works the same whether the person is at the next desk or in another country. Many remote teams post it in Slack and compare scores on the next video call, which is often the first time some people have laughed together.
What do the work bestie, coffee buddy and just a colleague results mean?
They are the three score tiers. Seven or more correct answers earns work bestie, four to six is coffee buddy, and three or less is just a colleague. The labels are deliberately soft so nobody feels called out in front of the team.
Does my manager see who scored what?
Only if you share your scoreboard with them. The quiz has no admin view, no company account and no export. Whoever created the quiz can see each player's answers; everyone else only sees the top 10 names and scores on the result page.
Can I use the coworker quiz for onboarding a new hire?
Yes, it is one of the most common uses. Ask the new person to make one on day two or three and share it with the team. Colleagues learn their habits quickly, and the new hire gets a reason to chat with people they would otherwise only meet in meetings.
Is this quiz different from a regular friendship quiz?
The mechanics are the same, but the questions are different. The friendship quiz asks about nights out and group chat behaviour, which can feel odd with coworkers. The coworker quiz keeps everything about desks, meetings, lunch and deadlines, so it stays professional even in a formal company.
